Erb's palsy, also called congenital brachial plexus palsy, is a weakness of the arm that results from a difficult delivery. It can occur after traumatic injuries in adults. One or two out of every 1000 babies have congenital brachial plexus palsy. It often occurs when a baby's neck is stretched to one side for a difficult birth.
It may be associated with high birth weight, maternal diabetes, and prolonged labor. Andi uses her medical expertise to educate and support families and children affected by cerebral palsy, Erb's palsy and birth injuries. Erb's palsy is muscle weakness in the arm or shoulder that can occur as a result of an injury sustained during birth or later in life.
